    Milk rice(kiribath)is the most popular traditional dish in Sri Lanka. It is made by rice with fresh coconut milk. Many Sri Lankans are accustomed to making milk rice at every cultural event or any auspicious occasion. Milk rice is the main dish of the Sinhala & Tamil New Year.

    Rinse the rice & place it in a clay pot.

    Pour 2 cups of water into the pot(2 cups of water depending on the rice you selected) Add pandan leaf & keep the pot on medium flame.

    Cook the rice until the water evaporates. At this time add coconut milk & salt to taste.

    After 3 minutes stir the rice & check the taste of salt in the rice.

    Keep the pot on a low-medium flame until absorb the milk into the rice.

    Spread the milk rice into the flat plate & let it cool.

    Next, cut into squares or triangles. (any shape you wish.)

    Serve with Lunu Miris. (chili sambal)
